In order to drive as part of a rideshare company in the GTA, all drivers must abide by City of Toronto municipal Vehicle-For-Hire and PTC Driver regulations.
Before you get on the road with Taxify, please read ALL rules and regulations that pertain to you as a Vehicle-For-Hire and PTC Driver, to ensure you're driving safely and legally. We've outlined a few important ones below, but you can read up on all the rules and regulations in the Toronto Municipal Code, Chapter 546.
All rideshare drivers require a Private Transportation Company (PTC) license (for the City of Toronto, Mississauga, and Oakville).
Once a Taxify Driver-Partner completes the application process, we will submit a Taxify PTC license application to the city on their behalf. Note that the City requires a separate PTC license for each private rideshare platform a driver works with.
Taxify Driver-Partners must display a Taxify sticker on their vehicle.
Local bylaw regulations require all partners to display the correct sticker on their vehicle while driving with Taxify. Once the City of Toronto approves your PTC license, we will provide you with a temporary print-off Taxify sticker. You can pick up your permanent sticker Toronto Taxify Partner Centre at your convenience.
During the winter season, rideshare vehicles must be equipped with winter or all-weather tires.
Between December 1 and April 30, the City of Toronto requires all PTC-licensed drivers to have vehicles equipped with winter or all-weather tires. Read more about vehicle requirements.
