Bolt may make a temporary booking on your card before you initiate an e-bike/scooter trip to check the card’s validity and minimise any fraudulent use of your card and information.
The booking amount is set automatically. If the final price of the trip is lower than the booked amount then the difference is released immediately. The released amount will reflect on your bank account within 10 business days, depending on your bank. This booking may show on your bank statement as a pending charge as the money never leaves your account. If the amount has not been released after 10 business days, please contact your bank or financial institution.
Payment verification booking can fail for the following reasons:
- There are insufficient funds on your account
- Your bank doesn’t allow a transaction
- The system notices suspicious card activity.
If the booking fails, you won’t be able to start a ride. In this case, please contact your bank or financial institution.
